Mittz Kitchen - Kamloops, BC

Hi ya Kamloops! I have to go to a meeting in Kelowna tomorrow so it allows me to sneak in town for some food today. I find myself downtown and hungry during that glorious stretch of time where you can choose between either the brunch menu or lunch menu. (It really is the little things that keep me happy, isn't it?)

I don't have any particular place in mind, so I use my trusty Park n' Scarf method of finding eats. This method is very technical: I find a parking space, park, and then scarf down at an eatery that is within ten steps from aforementioned parking space. It works for me.

Fat Jack's Homestyle Diner: Bunny Pie - Boston Bar, BC

I’ve been MIA for a while, I know. Last year, around this time, I had an extended stint out in Nanaimo (Click here for my Nanaimo eating posts.) This year, I have to be out in Vancouver for an extended stint.

I’ve decided to share Fat Jack’s Diner with you again (click here for my burger visit). I have to be home for a little while and then drive back out to the coast.

Papa G's Cafe - Kamloops, BC

I have to head out of town later today, so I thought I’d start the day with breakfast out.
Papa G’s Cafe is located at the old Jill’s Café space, in an industrial enclave on McGill Road.

I’ve been neglecting things lately. I wish I could say I’ve been busy with projects or hard at work, but I’ve been MIA from all my responsibilities for something quite ridiculous.

Reubin's Diner - Kamloops, BC

Here I am at Reubin’s Diner. This eatery is attached to the Esso on Tranquille. Since it is in the same building that houses the Esso, I’m going to go ahead and tag it as “Gas Station Eats.” There’s quite a line up for the car wash today with several vehicles waiting to wash off winter’s dirt. Spring is here, but does that mean Winter and all of winter's weather is gone too?

The diner is already busy with several tables enjoying enormous sandwiches when I arrive. People look happy here, so that’s a good sign.

Three Amigos Sandwich with Beef Barley soup ($12.95)

Smoke's Poutinerie - Kelowna, BC

Before heading out to Kelowna I started some of my spring-time yard clean up. I always like to give myself a couple of days to rake up the debris under the cedar hedges. It seems raking only once is never enough. Even when I think I’ve done a good job underneath the hedges, the next morning it will look like I’ve done nothing as the copper coloured needles congregate under the conifers again. Are they “needles” or “leaves”...?

Madisens at the South Thompson Inn - Kamloops, BC

The South Thompson Inn Guest Ranch. I don’t get out this far for a meal very often but here I am again at Madisens. I haven't thought about this little restaurant tucked inside the South Thompson Guest Ranch for a while.

Phat Albert's Weekday Cafe - Cache Creek, BC

A couple of years ago I gave up 91 minutes of my life to watching a low budge movie called Thirst. There is a small scene in the movie where the characters stop to eat in a diner. In real life, and in the movie, the diner was called Nag’s Stop. Nag’s Stop closed a while ago, but after some time elapsed the eatery re-opened as Phat Albert’s Weekday Café.

Fat Jack's Home-style Diner - Boston Bar, BC

A quick Fraser Canyon stop I’d like to share with you.
Okay, there are not a whole lot of decent places to stop for food in the Canyon, so thanks god for Fat Jack’s Home-style Diner. The restaurant sits next to the Mighty Fraser Motel which came under new proprietorship this past September. Apparently they are coastal transplants like me.

Danforth Deli: Chowder and Cheese - Nanaimo, BC

**UPDATE 2014: Sadly Danforth Deli is now closed. Nooooo!!....Why!??**

Okay so here’s the last of the Danforth Deli posts. The deli is in the midst of moving locations, and this particular visit pertains to the soon-to-be old location.

I'm making a quick back and forth trip between Nanaimo and Vancouver. Knowing the food options are limited at the Departure Bay ferry terminal, I brought with me a take-away late lunch from Danforth Deli. The last time I wrote about Danforth chowder it was a Nanoose Bay Clam Chowder. Click here for that bowl of goodness.

Danforth Deli: Breakfast - Nanaimo, BC

**UPDATE 2014: Sadly Danforth Deli is now closed. Nooooo!!....Why!??**

Okay, I know I’ve already posted about Danforth Deli before. They are currently in the midst of relocation so I’ll push out my posts about them since all my visits will refer to their original location. Just two more quick write-ups and I’ll leave it at that. This one will be about breakfast.

I usually come here for lunch, but I made an effort to get down here in time for their morning offerings.
