Tim Tam Biscuits
Arnott’s Tim Tams are sweet chocolate cream biscuits that hail from Australia. The rectangular treats are far too sweet for me to eat straight, but they are perfect when eaten via "slam" with unsugared coffee. I buy them in Kamloops at London Drugs, and sometimes they can be found at Superstore too.
The Tim Tam Slam.
An old flat-mate from Brisbane showed me how to do this many moons ago. We used to trek down to the Australian Embassy in England just to buy a pack of Tim Tams. Every now and again I’ll throw a pack of these in my shopping basket for the sole purpose of indulging in a Tim Tam Slam.
You will need two things:
1.Tim Tams. The original biscuit works best. I’ve tried it with the Double Chocolate and Caramel varieties and it’s not as efficient.
2.Hot beverage. I think it is best with coffee, but you can use any hot beverage that goes well with chocolate.
First, create the openings to the “straw.”
There are two methods: I like to bite off the corners diagonally opposite each end of the biscuit; others like to bite off each end of the Tim Tam. To each their own.
Essentially what we need to do here is use the biscuit like a straw to suck up the coffee.
Second, dip the bottom opening into your hot beverage.
Third, seal the other opening with your lips and suck until you feel the liquid on your tongue. The chocolate in these biscuits will melt with the slightest warmth.
Lastly, working quickly once you feel the liquid on your tongue; pop the entire biscuit into your mouth before the biscuit falls apart.
Awesome, right?
You’re welcome.
Tim Tams
I really miss Cost Plus World Market from my days in California. They had everything there! Even those dark chocolate oranges you smash to make the slices. I really want to try those tim tams, especially for a tim tam slam!
