Seaside Village Café is a quaint little coffee shop in Horseshoe Bay. There used to be no coffee chains in this village but over the years two major ones have slowly crept in. Although the two major franchises mop up much of the tourist business, Seaside seems to be more popular among the villagers. (Did I just call them villagers?) Most that are milling in and out of this tiny café are neighbouring business owners and residents that live down the street. They greet the petite owner behind the counter by name, and she in turn quizzes them about what their plans are for summer vacation.
White Chocolate Latte ($2.35)
Standard Da Vinci flavoured latte, with organic espresso. It’s a damp summer morning, and this sweet pick me up is just what I needed. Like all syrupy drinks the sweetness gets a bit to concentrate for me towards the bottom. I anticipate this sugariness, so that’s what the Pellegrino is for.
Blueberry Loaf ($2.25 ish?)
Very moist and surprisingly not too sweet even with the sugary icing on top.
Horseshoe Bay is wonderfully quiet this morning. I’m generally here in the afternoons and it tends to be traffic-wacky in all areas with locals, general tourists, ferry foot passengers...etc. I used to make trips up here to spend the afternoon watching the BC ferries come in and out. The novelty of that has worn off now...
