Banana Faux Ice Cream - Recipe
I must share this recipe with you. It’s not really a “recipe” since it only has two base ingredients, and it’s not really mine. I got it from an acquaintance who is trying to eat healthier. I have no idea where this person got the idea from, but I'm going to guess somewhere online.
Sahale Snacks at London Drugs - Kamloops, BC
Sahale Snacks. Have you tried these?
Gary's European Sausage & Deli - Kamloops, BC
If you ever move to a new place and want to know where to get good sausage my advice is to chat with local hunters. That’s how I first heard about Gary’s European Sausage and Deli. Not that I hunt or anything...
I’ve been meaning to visit Gary’s European Sausage and Deli for some time now, but have been taking my sweet ol’ time getting to it. Recently, a Love of Eating reader commented that he spotted malt beverages there. Well, I put my visit on fast-forward and made a visit on route to the garden centre.
Keely's Chop n' Block - Kamloops, BC
**UPDATE November 2011: Keely's Chop n' Block is now called Murphy's Chop n' Block, (or is it Murphy's Chopping Block?)**
Keely’s Chop n’ Block is one of the businesses tucked into the shopping area near the Canadian Tire on Hillside. It's across from Gourmet Greens. Out of sheer laziness I’m stopping into Keely’s chopping block to pick up a pound of pre-ground meat. Sometimes, if I only need a little bit of hamburger I don’t bother grinding my own. Also, I spend far too much time obsessing over cleaning the contraption afterwards. So there’s that.
Heba Supermarket: Samosas - Kamloops, BC
**UPDATE 2014: Heba Supermarket is no more. It is now the home of Joe Pho Vietnamese Restaurant.**
I swung into Heba Supermarket at the crack of noon. I actually arrived a little earlier and patiently waited until the lights flick on at precisely 12:00. I'm not the only one waiting as three others loitered around watching their watches too. We are all here for lunch. We all want samosas.
Before I order my samosas, I make a bee-line to the beverage coolers located in the far corner of the store.

Sorriso Ristorante Deli and Pasta - Kamloops, BC
Sorriso Ristorante Pasta and Deli sits on an unassuming corner location on Tranquille Road on Kamloops north shore. I noticed this eatery some time ago when I was orientating myself to Kamloops. Since then, I’ve driven by numerous times on my way to the ”The Craziest Store in Town!” I felt like a deli sandwich today so I swung into the quiet, but ample, parking lot of Sorriso Ristorante.
Kamloops Farmers Market - Kamloops, BC
The Kamloops Farmers Market
The farmers market is back. Happy times.
What a gorgeous sunny morning for the first day of the Kamloops Farmers Market. This section of St. Paul Street is fairly quiet in earlier hours, but became a bit more abuzz later in the morning.

Egils Maltextrakt and the Search for Malt Beverages in Kamloops, BC
The Smörgåsbord ...and Vita Malz malt drink - Kamloops, BC
This is The Smörgåsbord. I too wanted to visit the “sandwich dames” as suggested in their adverts. It’s a deli. A café. A European grocery. A gift shop. And it’s a garden center!
The menu is straight forward and made to order. Soups, salads, sandwiches, freshly baked goods and coffee. The prices are more than alright, and you know how much I love locally owned and operated establishments.
Eastuff Grocery - Kamloops, BC
This is Eastuff Grocery. (I often mis-spell it as Eaststuff.)You will find various imported Asian food stuffs here, mostly Chinese. It was created by former Thompson Rivers University students, and cater to the homesick cravings of TRU students. The aisles look a bit sparse but what they do carry however, are the more popular brands of specific items that are not available at your super grocery store ethnic aisle. Before heading home I picked up a few things.
