Tim Tam Biscuits

Arnott’s Tim Tams are sweet chocolate cream biscuits that hail from Australia. The rectangular treats are far too sweet for me to eat straight, but they are perfect when eaten via "slam" with unsugared coffee. I buy them in Kamloops at London Drugs, and sometimes they can be found at Superstore too.

Tiger Malt

I’ve been enamored with malt beverages for awhile now.
Look what I found in Kamloops the other day:

Sips & Sweets Candy and Coffee Shop - Chilliwack, BC

***UPDATE 2013: Sips N' Sweets is now closed.***
Some friends had moved to Chilliwack and they were giving me the grand tour of their new neighbourhood. I haven’t been this far down Vedder Road for a long while. There seems to be so many more businesses and small shopping complexes down this stretch than the last time I ventured way down Vedder. My friend points out some popular places on our driving tour.

Nonya Kaya Coconut Jam

Nonya Kaya or coconut jam. Have you tried? Do you like?
I was picking up some specialty items in the Osaka Supermarket at Yaohan Centre a few weeks ago and I spied this on the shelf next to the coconut milk. Coconut Jam! I impulsively grab a jar and place it in my rolling basket. (Seriously, all supermarkets should have these rolling baskets. It's a hand-basket with an elongated handle with castors on the bottom. Freakin' genius, I say!)

Planet Bee Honey Farm and Meadery - Vernon, BC

This is Planet Bee Honey Farm in Vernon, BC. It’s a honey farm where you can buy honey, honey wine and take an educational tour to learn about the honey bees.

We are on our way home when I spot a sign that said “meadery.” How exciting! A meadery. I immediately have pictures running through my head with men in long robes with pewter goblets. I must go. We detour from our route and follow the touristy signs.

Dorset Cereal Simply Delicious Muesli

I love good muesli. I am picking up some dish detergent today, and I happen to spy on the shelves, Dorset Cereals. It is muesli with no added sugar. This is actually not that easy to come by. Most of the muesli I’ve come across has some sort of additional sweetener in it. Sometimes the makers add honey to the oats, or other times it’s a sugary coating on the raisins or the other bits of fruit. I don’t really like sweet cereals, and I find the fruit element in muesli to be sweet enough for the morning munchies.

The Old Country Market - Coombs, BC

Is it just me or has the The Old Country Market become a huge tourist trap over the years? I use to come here about once a month to shop for specialty products and to pick up my Maldon Salt. I thought I’d grab some flakey sodium today, but when I spy their newly inflated prices on the 8.5 ounce box, I take a pass. It’s still a fun place to browse and their pies are still some of the best I’ve encountered.

Desert Hills Ranch Produce Wagon - Ashcroft, BC

Just a quick post to inform y’all that the Desert Hills Ranch Produce Wagon is now open for the season! The Wagon’s been up and running for the season since July 23rd, but I didn’t get an opportunity to head down until today.

Kelowna Farmers and Crafters Market - Kelowna, BC

I do love me a good farmer’s market. How can I not make a detour to check out what’s happening at the Kelowna Farmers and Crafters Market? The only downside for me visiting farmers markets is the in-my-face reminder of the slow state of my own amateur garden.

Super weather today for an outdoor market, sunny but not hot. When I arrive the market is in full swing.
