Restaurant
Zack's Coffee and Tea - Kamloops, BC
Zack's Coffee and Tea has two locations in Kamloops. I’m familiar with the downtown location, but have never come up to the second locale next to Fifth Avenue Jewellers.
Starhouse Restaurant - Cache Creek, BC
I’ve wanted to try this DDE for a long time. I think Starhouse used to be called Bill Ma’s or something like that. Looks like a classic movie truck stop diner. I’m so intrigued! Starhouse serves western Chinese cuisine in the village of Cache Creek. I made reference in my Crush post about sweet and sour chicken balls. Since then I couldn’t get the thought of those orbs out of my head.
Donut King and Coffee - Kamloops, BC
I wanted to come here for two reasons:
1) I love the story that comes with the Donut King. Kamloopsian created by a former Tim Hortons franchisee that wanted to go fresh instead of frozen. He’s opened a few more locations since then, so I guess business is good. It’s nice to see locals supporting locals.
Café Loki - Reykjavík, IS
Café Loki is located directly in front of the Hallgrimskirkja (the big church) in Reykjavík. It offers some traditional treats of Iceland, such as smoked lamb and fermented shark. It looks a bit like a Hong Kong style café inside. I chose a table in front of the window, with a great view of the Leif Ericson statue and the church. The service is very welcoming and friendly.
Sleepy Hollow Diner - Kamloops, BC
Crush Sauté and Grill - Kamloops, BC
Fresh Healthy Café - Kamloops, BC
**UPDATE September 2012: Fresh Cafe is now closed.
I found breakfast this morning at Fresh Café. I wasn’t sure what I wanted from a "healthy café" for breakfast. I'm not feeling a granola craving today. Hey, I figure that if Pure Cuisine can bang out tasty, inventive, healthy raw meals, then Fresh can surely provide some brekkie. Truth be told, I wasn’t searching for anything healthy this morning. I wanted some bacon.
Bamboo House - Bothell, WA
I first mentioned Bamboo House when I was blogging about Aca Las Tortas several weeks ago. It’s located in the same complex just off the 405 (Mill Creek exit) as you head south towards Seattle. They serve up casual Vietnamese fare. I came for the phở tonight.
Beef Noodle Soup Accoutrements
Maurya's Fine Indian Cuisine - Kamloops, BC
We decided to play Parking Space Roulette and let the next convenient spot dictate where we eat tonight. I’ve been to Maurya’s Fine Indian Cuisine a number of times, but that was about 3 or 4 years ago driving through town enroute to other destinations. I remember it as being just ok. I recall the take-out experience being way better than the eat-in experience and that's why I haven’t been back in so long.
